SANTA FE'S LONGEST EXISTING PROFESSIONAL RESIDENT THEATRE
|
|
The mission of the Adult Company is: to
provide the community with a professional resident company
committed to artistic excellence, to create opportunities
for New Mexico theatre artists to work in a professional
environment, to form collaborations with other performing
arts companies and community organizations and heighten
awareness in the community about current social issues. |
SFPA's Company productions have met with critical acclaim
and have been attended by more than 50,000 audience members.
Continued community support has made the Company the longest-existing,
professional resident company in Santa Fe history. It has
employed more than 6,000 New Mexico theatre artists and has
collaborated with more then 100 other organizations over our
19 years.
PLAYWRIGHT'S
COMPETITION
Santa Fe Performing Arts Playwright's Competition was developed
to support American Playwrights. The competition is not merely
a competition of words, but a venue for recognition and a
demonstration of appreciation - truly a celebration of the
writer's contribution. SFPA and many other theatre companies
around the country with similar programs, support playwrights
and ensure the future of American Theatre. Without the writers,
the actors would have nothing to say. Submissions are limited
to unproduced new American plays and must be postmarked by
the first of September of each year. Send play synopsis and
character break-down. Full scripts upon request only.
THE BILINGUAL WORKS
To
better serve the diversity of our community, SFPA furthers
its commitment to providing bilingual productions for the
community at large. This program combines theatre education
with bilingual performances by our adult and children's companies.
The program provides access for our diverse community to theatre
that is culturally relevant, yet still enjoyable to non-Spanish
speakers. Bilingual productions preserve the beauty of the
original language, foster intercultural understanding and
improve the quality of life in our community.
